• Christopher Muttukumaru CB, Counsel, Monckton Chambers, Gray's Inn. Member of FIDE's Academic Council

Moderator: Daniel Sarmiento, Professor of Administrative and European Union Law at Complutense University of Madrid. Of Counsel, Uría Menéndez. Member of Fide´s Academic Council.

Objectives:

During this session, we will analyse the following issues:

 - Enforcement of rights after Brexit: the possible roles of the CJEU and of the UK national courts in the light of the publication of the UK's European Union (Withdrawal) Bill.
 - The implications of Brexit on international commercial litigation in the light of the Union instruments regarding judicial cooperation in civil matters. The discussion will focus on issues of international jurisdicion of national courts, choice of law and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments.

• Joaquín Huelin, Judge of the Supreme Court, administrative chamber. Member of Fide´s Academic Council.

Schedule: The session will be held between 14:00 and 16:30 hours, reserving the first half-hour for an informal snack.
